Advantages and disadvantages of SNCR and SCR:
1.SCR uses a catalyst, SNCR does not use a catalyst.
2. As the reductant, SNCR can use urea in addition to use ammonia . But for SCR, because the flue gas temperature is relatively low, the urea must be made into ammonia before spraying into the flue gas.
3. With no catalyst, SNCR method has strict temperature requirement - if the temprature is too low, the conversion rate of NOx is lower, if the temperature  too high, NH3 is easily oxidized to NOx, which offsets the removal efficiency of NH3. This leads to two consequences: on the one hand, the denitration efficiency is reduced, and on the other hand, the quantity and cost of the reductqnt are increased.
4.  Due to the reaction temperature window, the setting and switching of the reaction time and the ammonia injection point of the SNCR are limited by the layout of the boiler furnace and / or the heating surface.
5. In order to meet the requirements of the reaction temperature, the requirements of ammonia injection control are very strict. Ammonia spray control is the  key point of SNCR, and it is also the biggest obstacle that affects the efficiency and stability of SNCR denitration.
6. SNCR has a large amount of ammonia leakage, which not only pollutes the atmosphere, but also causes the air preheater to be blocked when (NH4) 2SO4 is formed when burning sulfur-containing fuel , while the SCR is controlled at 2 ~ 5ppm.
7. Due to the limitation of reaction temperature window and ammonia leakage, the denitrition efficiency of SNCR is generally 30-50%. For large-scale power plant boilers, the denitrition efficiency is lower than 40%. The SCR's denitrition efficiency has almost no upper limit in technology, but only from the perspective of cost performance, the general guarantee value of foreign performance is 90%.
8. For SCR under the action of catalyst, part of SO2 will be converted into SO3, but this does not happen to SNCR.
